Crafty Catz Challenge 80 - Congratulations

Hi Peeps!

Hope everyone is well!  Happy Friday!  That means it is time for a brand new challenge over at Crafty Catz!  This week, the lovely Trish is hosting and she has chosen a Congratulations theme.  So, we want to see your congratulations related projects - it could be for anything from a new job, birth, wedding, retirement, big birthday, etc.  Our fabulous sponsor this week is The Paper Shelter and a $15 gift certificate to their store is up for grabs for one lucky winner!   Hope you are able to join us!

For this week's challenge I have made a wedding card for William..... a longtime friend of my husband's :o).  Let's be serious, it is really for his lovely bride.  Here is my card:

It has been a while since I have inked up my beloved Magnolias - this one is Bride and Bridesmaid from the 2010 Wedding Collection.  I stamped them on 300 g watercolour paper using black Stazon and coloured them with a combination of watercolour pencils and Distress inks - I just couldn't make up my mind!  Colours used:  hair - walnut stain and antique linen; cheeks and flowers - tattered rose; leaves - forest moss, and the remainder was coloured with watercolour pencils.  I added Rock Candy Stickles to the veil to glam it up, a Liquid Pearls earring, and Star Dust Stickles around the edge for extra sparkle.  The image and mat were cut using my Sentimentals Cricut cartridge.  A closeup of the lovely bride and her maid:

The ribbon flowers were sewn by hand.  I was planning on including a tutorial to show how I made them, but unfortunately I ran out of time.  I love how they turned out, though, so I will definitely be making some again soon and will include a tutorial then, promise. The big shiny centre on the larger flower is a Timeless Bazzill button.

The silver ribbon and pearls are from a local scrapbook store and the paper is from the Black and White Butterfly stack by Me and My Big Ideas.  The sentiment was computer generated and the edges were inked with silver ink.  The artsy view:
I would also like to enter this card into the following fun challenges:

Crafty Cardmakers - a royal wedding and/or red, white and blue
Magnolia-licious - photo inspiration (I used Norma's inspiration card and went with two Tildas)
Craft us Crazy - mother's day and/or flowers
A Spoonfull of Sugar - A right royal knees up

Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment!  Hope you enjoyed my card - I can't wait to see yours!

Hugs,

Dawn

Dawn, what a gorgeous card. And how appropriate..LOL..yup, I stayed up and watched the royal wedding--3:00am my time! Love this image and you've coloured it beautifully. I'd like to give distress ink a try. Wonderful how you've kept the focus on the image and left the rest in B&W. Beautiful DP. Your hand-sewn flower is gorgeous.
Thanks for playing with us at the Magnolia-licious Challenge.
Hugs,
Norma
