The Sky is the Limit

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all safe and well - especially if you are in one of the many Southern Alberta communities that has been affected by the mudslides and floods this past weekend.  Over the past twenty-four hours, the floods have headed into Medicine Hat, my childhood hometown so I hope everyone there is safe and with loved ones.  Luckily, my family lives far from the river.

I've spent the last four days in Lake Louise in the Canadian Rocky Mountains National Park.  We arrived in the wee hours of the night on Wednesday and by the time we awoke on Thursday morning all the roads leading into and out of the park were closed due to washouts and mudslides from the heavy rain storm.  Many were stranded, unable to return home for several days.  In spite of being in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, I was relieved when the highways started to reopen and I am glad to be home.

Onto the reason you are all here - stuff made with paper.  I have made a few cards for Showcase Monday on the Scrapbooker's Paradise inspiration blog.  Here is one of them:

I hope you will pop over to my Scrapbooker's Paradise blog post here to check out the others.  I have also included a supply list on that post for anyone wanting to know what products were used.

Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment.  I appreciate each one and love having the chance to visit you too.  I am looking forward to catching up with everyone now that I am back home and seeing what you have all been creating.

Hugs,

Summertime!

Hello everyone,

I hope a great weekend was had by all.  We had a nice weekend of camping; the weather even cooperated most of the time - we only had a few showers which was much better than expected.

A new challenge has started at Creatalicious and our theme for the next month is 'all about summer.'  Easy peasy!  This challenge is sponsored by Stamp Fairy, who kindly provided some really cute images for the DT to work with.  For my card, I used Molly Beach and an Ice Cream Cone freeby, which I used to create the shape of the card.

Supplies:

Paper - all scraps (woohoo!)
Images - Molly Beach coloured with pencils, Ice Cream Cone Freeby
Other - scoreboard to create the lines on the cone, Distress ink for inking the edges and scored lines, Stampin' Up flowers, American Crafts lace and a computer generated sentiment.

I hope you will pop by Creatalicious Challenges to see the beautiful creations made by my talented team mates.  Stamp Fairy will be providing one lucky winner with a $10 gift certificate to their store, so get out your summery stuff and come play with us!  I'm looking forward to seeing all your summery creations :)

This card is also for these fun challenges:

Charisma Cardz - digi stamps only
Crafty Catz - let's go pink
ABC challenges - P for pretty in pink

Tutu Sweet - Playing in Paradise Sketch Challenge #2

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all having a good week and are looking forward to a great weekend.  We are supposed to go camping this weekend :) and as luck would have it, the forecast is for rain and rain and more rain :(  I think I'll bring a box of crafting supplies along :)

I'm back to invite you all to come play along with us over at the Playing in Paradise Sketch Challenge.  Scrapbooker's Paradise always sponsors the challenge with a fab prize and you have a few weeks to link up your entries.  You can even play along if you don't have a blog or gallery by e-mailing your entry to us.  For more details, check out the Playing in Paradise Challenge.

I'm really loving these cute ballerinas and for my inspiration piece I made a card to match the candle I made earlier this week (here).  These will be for my niece's birthday.  She turns 4 in a few weeks and is taking little toddler ballet classes.  This image reminds me of her, so I hope she likes it!

Supplies:

Image - Tutu Sweet set by Penny Black, illustrated by Mo Manning, coloured with pencils
Paper - white and kraft card, stamped with Hero Arts music background and Impression Obsession flourish background cling stamps using Color Box Frost White ink.  Edges were inked with Distress ink in Frayed Burlap.
Flowers - I made the two sparkly pink roses using the Sizzix Mini Petals die by Susan Tierney-Cockburn using white card and spritzed them with Lindy's Stamp Gang Cotton Candy Pink Starburst spray.  All the other flowers are from Pretty Petals.
Other - Kaiser Craft white lace, Spellbinders Fantastic Flourish 2  (I added a hint of Frantage rose color fragments to the corner of this die cut, but it is hard to see as it is mostly covered by the flowers), Stampin' Up pearls, and Frantage Shabby Pink Embossing Enamel frames the image - love this stuff!

Here is the sketch we are playing with this month.  As you can see, I've left a couple of elements off my card.

I hope you will pop by the Playing in Paradise Challenge to check out what the rest of the talented team made.  They are sure to wow you!  Then come and play with us :)  I'd love to see what you make.

Thanks so much for visiting and for taking the time to leave a comment.  I appreciate each one and love having the chance to visit you too.

Hugs,

Cute and Cuddly

Hello everyone,

A super quick post as I will surely be turning into a pumpkin soon if I don't go to bed.  A new challenge starts today over at Christmas at Sweet Stampin' and this month our theme is 'cute and cuddly using non-traditional colours.'  Could it get any more complicated?  I assure you I had absolutely nothing to do with choosing this theme... Ok, it might be mostly my fault.  But hopefully you will be inspired to play along anyway :)  and be one Christmas card closer to freedom in December.  Here is what I came up with:

Supplies:

Stamps - House Mouse, sentiment by LOTV
Paper - a scrap from my stash
Colouring - distress inks (black soot, tattered rose, seedless preserves)
Dies - Spellbinders timeless rectangles & poinsettia, Memory box flourish (cut apart)
Other - pearls

Our fab sponsor, Flat Friends is offering one lucky winner their choice of 4 digis, so come and play!

I would like to enter my card in these fun challenges:

Alphabet Challenge - I for image
Winter Wonderland - four legged friends

Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment.  I appreciate each one and love having the chance to visit you too.

Hugs,

Dreaming with your Feet

Hello everyone,

I hope you have all been well!  I celebrated my 29th birthday last weekend... again.  I'm not actually trying to cling on to my youth - I have always had an old spirit - I just actually forget my age on a regular basis and have to do the math in my head to figure it out.  29 is easy.  Anyone else forget their age??  Just curious.  Anyway, I had a wonderful birthday and was spoiled with many of my favourite things, including some new craft goodies which I am very excited to create with.  But for today, I have an altered candle to share.

The super sweet image is a Mo Manning by Penny Black and I coloured it with Distress inks.  Who knew that water colouring with Distress and wax went together?  If you are new to candles and want to learn, I put together a little picture tutorial on the Scrapbooker's Paradise inspirational blog showing how you can make your own here.  I hope you will pop on over to check it out.

Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment.  I'd love to know what you think and have the chance to visit you too.  I'll be back tomorrow with a card.  See you then!

Hugs,

Dawn
