Crafty Catz Pink and Green

Hi Peeps!

Happy Friday!  Time for a new challenge over at Crafty Catz.  This week the lovely Suzie is hosting and she has chosen pink and green for our challenge.  I must say I struggled a little with this one at first - these are not colours I have on hand or that I am naturally drawn to.  But, it was nothing that a little shopping excursion couldn't fix (like I need an excuse to fuel my addiction lol).

Paper - 300g hot pressed watercolour paper, Bazzill card, Basic Grey - Olivia
Stamp - Magnolia Parrot
Ink - black Stazon, Distress - black soot, peeled paint, forest moss
Ribbon - American Crafts
Other - flowers and leaves cut with Cricut - straight from the nest, branch is a SCAL2 file from My Scrap Chick, Flower Soft - sunshine yellow

Some of the particulars - The parrot was paper pieced to sit on top of the branch.  The ribbon is folded in a box pleat (I think that is what it is called?).  The flowers were made by cutting each petal deeper toward the centre.  A small hole was punched in the centre and each petal is rolled and shaped.  A rolled paper tube acts as the stamen; insert into punched hole and shape the flower around it.  Apply glue and sprinkle with Flower Soft.  This was my first time using Flower Soft and I am thrilled with the result.  I have left a lot of empty space, both to allow the paper to show and to give room to add a sentiment later if I want/need to.
We have a fabulous sponsor this week - Crafty Emma's Store will provide the lucky winner with the Just For You Stamp set pictured below - very cute!

I hope you are able to join us this week.  If you are looking for ideas and inspiration, make sure you check out the beautiful cards from the other gals on our DT.   So, what are you still doing here?  Get crafting!

But if you are still here, I would also like to enter my card in these wonderful challenges:

A Spoonfull of Sugar - Things with wings
Paper Crafting Journey - Anything goes/use your favorite ... (mine is colouring with Distress inks)
PaperPlay Challenges - Blossoms and Blooms
Party Time Tuesday - Animals

Thanks so much for visiting and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.  I truly appreciate them.

Have a Magical Day!

Hello everyone!

Hope everyone had a splendid week!  It is time for a new challenge over at Crafty Catz and this week, the lovely Janette is hosting.  She has made it very easy for everyone this week with anything goes.  So if you make any card or project this week, we would love to see it - hope you can join us!

We are being sponsored by Digital Delights and the lucky winner will receive three fabulous digital stamps.  Digital Delights has kindly provided us with images to work with this week, and for my card I chose the cute 'Augustus the Dragon.'

This week's card is very simple - I wanted to keep it masculine and I find masculine embellishments are more difficult.  I will be sending this card to the lovely folks at Card Cupids for their next card drive; having spent time in the hospital myself as a child, I think what they do is really wonderful.  Augustus was coloured with pencils, the sentiment was printed on my computer, paper is from Karen Foster and everything else is stuff from my stash.  I hope this helps brighten a little boy's day!

If you are looking for inspiration, make sure you stop by the to see the wonderful creations from the rest of the Crafty Catz DT!

I would also like to enter my card in these challenges:

A Spoonfull of Sugar - anything goes
Cards for Men - someone special
Top Tip Tuesday - one for the kids + they are having a DT call for anyone interested
My tip:  I love colouring my stamped images with Distress inks, which are extremely water reactive.  To help prevent ugly colour bleeds from one colour to another, colour your images from lightest to darkest colour - that way if you accidentally nick a finished portion with your paintbrush and it runs into the wet area you are currently working on, it won't show.

Thanks for stopping by and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!

Crafty Catz - Colour Combo

Hello Peeps!

Hope everyone's weekend is off to a great start!  I wish I could say the same about mine, but unfortunately my computer has come down with a virus :( so I have borrowed my husbands computer to do this post.  Hopefully I can get it resolved quickly and with minimal pain.

This week at Crafty Catz, the lovely Dianne has chosen a pink, white and black colour combo for our challenge.  We are being sponsored by Robyn's Fetish and the lucky winner will receive 5 digital images or 4 digital images and 1 set of digital papers of their choice.  Robyn's Fetish has provided us with images this week, and here is my card:

I have coloured the image with coloured pencils - I think these little bears are adorable as pandas.  The cardstock is bazzill and the paper is from My Little Shoebox .  The flowers were made with my Forever Young Cricut cartridge using  paper from Making Memories.  I spritzed them with water and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.  Crumple them up in a tight ball and then unfold them, leaving them wrinkled.  Allow them to dry and adhere a pearl for the centre.  The little butterfly punches are a Fiskars mini punch and the sentiment was computer generated.  The leaves are a Stampin Up die and the ribbon is from my stash.

If you have not already done so, make sure you check out the rest of the lovely creations by our talented design team.  I hope you are able to join us this week and will do my best to visit as many of your blogs as possible.

I would also like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Stamping Vacation - No embossing
Crafts and Me - Punches
Crafty Creations - Anything goes

Thanks for stopping by and thank you for all the kind comments!

Hugs,

Happy Mother's Day!

Hello Peeps!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a great mother's day!  It was National Scrapbook Day on Saturday...oooh the sales and goody bags...very exciting!  So, I got just a few things lol.  Ok, I got quite a bit and I can't wait to play with it all!

A quick post today - I want to share a card I made for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day:
The image is from Penny Black and was coloured with Distress inks.  The white doily mat was made with an EK Success edge punch (one of my new additions - love this punch!).  The butterfly is a Fiskar's mini punch and the flowers are cut from my Forever Young cricut cartridge.  The papers are really old Stampin' Up papers and the ribbon with the little hearts was a dollar store find that I have had for a very long time and had not yet used.  The lace and pearls are from KaiserCraft and the sentiment was computer generated.

I used a sketch from the Sketch n Stash Challenge; however, I did not get my card done in time to enter it :(

I would love to enter this card in these fun challenges:

Card Cupids - Flowers; I have just learned about this group and think that what they are doing is just wonderful!  Pop by their blog to learn more.
Secret Crafter - Dust off your stash
Paper Cutz Challenge - Mother's Day

Thank you to everyone for stopping by!  Hope you have time to leave a comment; I love reading them and it gives me a chance to check out your blog too!

Hugs,

Crafty Catz Challenge 81 - Sentiment or Quote

Hello peeps!

Hope everyone had a good week!  It is another Friday and a brand new challenge over at Crafty Catz!  This week, Carol is hosting and she has chosen an easy challenge - we would love to see your cards or projects with a sentiment or quote on them!  Our fabulous sponsor this week is The Stamping Boutique and 5 digis or 3 digis and 1 set of digi papers is up for grabs for the lucky winner!

For my card this week, I have used this cute 'Moose' image from The Stamping Boutique.  I coloured him with pencil crayons and attached him with dimensional foam.  When I dreamt this card up, I had intended the yellow diamond to look like a road sign, but now that it is complete, I think that might have been lost.  All of the papers are from Bo Bunny (Roughin' it collection and double dots).  The trees were paper pieced using the trees in the DP as a guide so they would coordinate well with the style of the paper.  I kept the embellishments simple as I wanted a masculine card, so I just added a little twine - I think that appeals to men?  Not sure, but it definitely appeals to my cat.  If I want her help with a card, all I have to do is dig out the ball of twine.  Oh, I almost forgot the sentiment - it was computer generated (yes, I know, another pun.  Is there a support group for that?)

If you have not already done so, make sure you check out the rest of the talented DT's cards!  I hope you are able to join us this week; can't wait to see all your wonderful creations!

I would also like to enter this card in the following fun challenges:

Simon Says Stamp - Paper piecing or piercing
Papertake Weekly - Anything goes
Here Come the Boys - Anything goes

Thanks for visiting and for taking the time to leave a comment!  I love reading them!

Hugs,

Dawn
